The U.S. Supreme Court is set to consider possible exceptions to
the newly-established rule requiring forensic report analysts to
testify in court in the upcoming term, as well as a host of other
cases involving criminal law and sentencing, arbitration, and
privilege and attorney practice issues.
Here is a look at some of the cases on the Court's docket.
Criminal cases dominate
One of the most anticipated cases of the term is Briscoe v.
Virginia, which considers whether prosecutors may introduce forensic
laboratory report into evidence without the testimony of the analyst
if the defendant has a right to call the analyst as a witness.
