Having lived in Iowa all my life, there is one thing I know with absolute certainty: I put ethanol in my car. That's just how it goes.

I never thought of fueling up as controversial. Nobody ever harassed me at the pump, questioning what I put in my car's tank.

But apparently some people feel ready to rumble about renewable fuels "West Side Story"-style. OK, maybe they don't sing while they argue, but it would make the whole situation less awkward.

Here's what's happening: The National Pork Producers Association recently announced its opposition to the suggestion to raise the current 10 percent limit on ethanol blends for use in conventional engines.
