Article: Pittsfield gets stimulus funds to expand industrial park

PITTSFIELD - The announcement Friday that the town of Pittsfield will receive $880,000 in federal stimulus funding for the expansion of its industrial park will advance a project that's been on the town's wish list since the 1980s.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke's announcement sent a jolt through the town, which in recent years has seen several interested businesses look at Pittsfield and then move on because they found no suitable place to build, according to Town Manager Kathryn Ruth. This project will create six new building sites. The existing industrial park is full except for one site that would be hard to develop because of its geography, said Ruth.
