When Linda Walsack labeled her husband, Carl, as "Mr. Fix It,"
she was describing a hard-working man who excelled at using his
hands and tools.
"Carl not only did work around our house or for relatives, he
also reached out to elderly neighbors who he knew could not do the
work themselves," she said. "He'd also cut their grass."
Carl Walsack of the South Side, who worked in the Department of
Facilities Management at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC in Oakland,
died of cancer on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, in Family Hospice and
Palliative Care, Mt. Lebanon. He was 66.
Mr. Walsack graduated from the former Washington Vocational High
