Article: State: Stoughton rail is still best way to go

Now that the technical data is in, analysis done, and comparative charts drawn up, the state Executive Office of Transportation appears to have reached the same conclusion it did a year ago: An expansion of the Stoughton commuter rail line south to Fall River and New Bedford looks to be the most promising of the commuter service alternatives being considered.

The technical reports, produced by Watertown-based engineering firm Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. for the state and discussed at an information forum in Raynham last week, will now be forwarded to state and federal agencies working on an environmental review of the South Coast Rail expansion project.
