Security will be tight for September's Group of 20 summit and
will likely disrupt the lives of those who work, live and do
business Downtown.
A "very secure, fenced-in perimeter" will be established on the
streets immediately surrounding the David L. Lawrence Convention
Center, where leaders of the world's 20 biggest economies will meet
Sept. 24 and 25, said Joanna Doven, spokeswoman for Pittsburgh Mayor
Luke Ravenstahl.
The Secret Service security plan bars vehicles from coming within
several blocks of the Downtown building, but pedestrians will be
allowed within a secure zone if they pass through metal detectors
set up at two intersections: Penn Avenue and Ninth Street, and
Liberty Avenue ...
