Yes, we've all had it at one time or another -- that week-long
malaise of temperature, aching joints, headache, sore throat, cough,
sneezing and loss of appetite -- the flu. It's a misery but we can
be thankful that nearly everyone in previously good health gets
better quickly.
The recent emergence of swine flu or -- to give it the correct
scientific name -- flu strain H1N1 -- means that more of us may have
recently had the flu experience and as many as one in three of us
stand to get it next winter.
But let's remember that there's nothing new about flu. It's a
natural phenomenon that's been around probably for as long as we
have.
