Article: Claremont Community Foundation celebrates 20 years

CLAREMONT - Despite the heat, about 100 people turned out Sunday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Claremont Community Foundation at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden.

The sounds of a classical string and flute duo drifted through the air as donors and organization members mingled over cocktails and hors d'oevres.

The event not only marked the 20th anniversary of the organization, it was also a commemoration of the choice of the Sticky Monkey Flower (Mimulus Aurantiacus) as the official Claremont city flower.

The flower is a shrub native to Oregon and most of California that blooms in various colors.
