It's tough to be a law enforcement officer in Redwood City and
its unincorporated environs these days and nights. The challenges
are significant.
Not the least of these obstacles is the geography itself. Because
of decisions made long ago, it's not always clear where Redwood City
ends and acreage governed by San Mateo County authorities begins.
That's especially true south of Woodside Road and east of El
Camino Real, an area of patchwork development that includes
warehouses, industrial enterprises, commercial entities and
residential properties. North Fair Oaks is a sprawling neighborhood
