Patent applications continue rising in China despite global crisis, says WIPO

GENEVA, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- The number of international patent applications continued to rise in China in the first half of 2009 despite the global economic crisis, the head of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) said on Friday.

Preliminary figures show international patent applications from China in the first six months of this year were up 19 percent compared with same period in 2008, WIPO Director-General Francis Gurry told reporters.
