Reaching conditions prevailed for the Naval Academy Sailing
Squadron's 55th annual Race to Oxford and produced close battles in
two separate classes between one-design entries that revel in such
winds.
Richard Born skippered Windborn to victory in PHRF A1 class,
beating fellow J/120 and summer-long nemesis Heron in the process.
Windborn had placed second to Heron, owned by Greg Leonard, in
several regattas this season, including the Annapolis-to-Newport
Race.
"Heron has kind of had our number this year. This was our last
chance to beat them," Born said.
John Hilbert, Jeff Jordan and Rob Weiss teamed to form a strong
