Article: Title agent gets 7 years Pasadena woman guilty of fraud, pocketed $3.4M

The owner of a Severna Park title company was sentenced last week to seven years in federal prison for defrauding lenders during settlements.

Pasadena resident Deborah Williams, who sometimes referred to herself as Deborah Williams Forney, 57, owner of Day Title Inc., had pleaded guilty in May to a mail fraud charge.

She admitted she pocketed $3.4 million in settlement money that was to have been used to release liens on sellers' property. She was sentenced Sept. 9 in U.S. District Court in Baltimore.

Williams was a settlement agent for Security Title Guaranty which, as the title insurer, had to make up the funds that Williams stole, according to court documents.
