Article: Junior Fair auction closes another fair year

The Wayne County Junior Fair Auction on Thursday closed out the final day of the fair, selling 321 market hogs, totaling $167,572.45; 69 beef steers, 24 dairy steers and two carcass steers totaling $364,269.95.

Auctioneers were Dave Acker, Mark Bachus and Steve Andrews. Chris Acker and Becky Croft clerked the sale. Ringmen were Jeff Gasser, Mark Bachus, Dave Geitgey, Nick Defelice, Jim Silver, Seth Andrews, Dave Acker and Curt Morris. Sale proceeds were handled by National City Bank.

Champion market hog owned by Kent Way was purchased by Canaan Country Meats, for $7 per pound, with the reserve champion market hog owned by Keri Hastings purchased by DeChant Excavating for $3.25 per pound.
