DIAMOND BAR - Officials, friends and family members of the late
former Diamond Bar Mayor Bob Zirbes came together this past weekend
to dedicate a portion of the 57 Freeway in his memory.
Zirbes was elected to the Diamond Bar City Council in 2001. He
was mayor in 2003 and 2004.
Zirbes died of cancer in February 2007.
Members of the Zirbes family on Sunday unveiled a large green
sign bearing his name after attendees offered a toast to the former
mayor at the Diamond Bar Center.
The sign will mark the section of the 57 Freeway between
Pathfinder Road and the Orange County Line to designate the "Mayor
Bob Zirbes Memorial Freeway."
