Although the region's process industry has been under massive
pressure recently, Philip Jones is adamant it is a "temporary blip"
rather than a crisis. Deputy Business Editor Deborah Johnson meets
the man charged with training the next generation of process sector
workers
THE recent run of closures in Teesside's chemical cluster have
undoubtedly hit the region hard. In the past few months alone, the
effects have been devastating, the impact massive.
Hundreds of highly-skilled workers are out of a job. Six key
chemical plants have closed or are expected to close. Questions are
being asked about the future viability of the Wilton site, the jewel
in the region's process sector crown.
