CHEYENNE - A man charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Adonnis Whitehead pleaded not guilty to that crime and two other felonies Monday afternoon.

Charles E. Jones' attorney, Dion Custis, said he expects prosecutors will not seek the death penalty for his client.

Prosecutor Craig Jones did not indicate at the arraignment hearing whether the Laramie County District Attorney's Office will seek life in prison or the death penalty in the first-degree murder case.

"We will file our declaration within 20 days," Jones told Laramie County District Judge Peter Arnold.
