The coastal property (above), which is on the market for Pounds 400,000, also has planning permission so the new owner can build a 2,500 sq ft modern home. The news will be music to the ears of house- hunters who like the sound of owning such a historic home.

The cottage overlooking rocks on the North Antrim coast was used in the early development of the radio system by the famous Nobel Prize-winning Italian inventor.

In July 1898 Marconi (inset) stayed at the cottage and it was the base for some of the earliest radio transmissions to and from Rathlin Island.
