BUILDING firms in East Yorkshire are being forced to pay
substantial fines after an investigation into bid-rigging.
Several companies from the region have been penalised after a
major national operation by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to
combat illegal bidding practices.
Officials believe businesses colluded with competitors on
building contracts, meaning customers - some of whom included public
sector organisations - were at risk of being overcharged.
