THE Belfast Telegraph is today appealing to readers to back a
campaign urging Executive ministers to open talks to resolve the
school transfer crisis once and for all.
We are asking you to sign a petition that calls on our political
leaders to set their differences to one side and sit face-to-face to
sort out a way of moving forward for the sake of a generation of
children.
Currently thousands of schoolchildren, parents and teachers are
faced with an unregulated transfer system characterised by a
complicated mix of entrance exams and other admissions criteria. Up
to 12,000 children will sit new entrance exams being set by 68
schools this autumn -- against the advice of Education Minister ...
