League player-turned- boxer John Hopoate will not put his Australian heavyweight champion's belt up for grabs in Hamilton next month, because he believes his opponent isn't worthy of a title shot.

Hopoate, one of the most controversial athletes in Australasian sport, will fight Queensland-based Colin Wilson in the main undercard bout ahead of the David Tua v Shane Cameron fight at Mystery Creek next month. It is one of seven lead-up fights ahead of the bout billed the "Fight of the Century", and Wilson has already said he hoped to "clean up boxing" and send Hopoate back to rugby league.
