Richard B. Bosley flew all kinds of flights with the U.S. Army Air Forces and the Air Force Reserve, but none with more precious cargo than one day in 1964.

His son, Army 2nd Lt. Richard R. Bosley, 21, was making his first jumps for paratrooper training at Fort Benning, Ga. Maj. Bosley made sure that he would be flying the C-119 Flying Boxcar his son would be exiting.

"The whole thing gave me the creeps," Bosley then said of his son jumping. "It scared the heck out of me, but I made sure I was right on the drop zone each time."

For the record, the younger Richard passed paratrooper training. Their story appeared in many newspapers, including The Milwaukee Journal back ...
