Homer Floyd Robinette, 93, of Floyd, Va., went home to be with
the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. He was born on June 26,
1916 in Landis, N.C. to Jefferson Monroe Robinette and Mary Manor
Robinette. Homer grew up in Burlington, N.C., and was a graduate of
Burlington High School. In the interest of extending his education,
he studied business at Elon University, Guilford College, and UNC-
Greensboro. He served his country during World War II as a
pharmacists mate from 1944 until 1946 at the United States Naval
Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., vividly remembering receiving the first
casualties of D-Day. His working days were spent in Smithfield, N.C.
St. Paul, N.C., Greensboro, N.C., and ...
