Article: Group hears ideas for MacCorkle Avenue facelift

Less concrete, better sidewalks, slower traffic. That's part of what a team of architects and designers envision for a safer and prettier MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City.

After months of analysis, they unveiled their suggestions Thursday night to members of the Kanawha City Community Association.

"This is going to be a long-haul project," Jeff Miller of the state chapter of the American Institute of Architects told the audience.

Last year, the AIA offered its services as part of its Livable Communities program. In March, Miller and others heard from community members on how they wanted to give the corridor a facelift.
