Article: Realtors upset over proposed home inspections in Daly City

DALY CITY -- A Realtors group is leading a fight against a proposed mandatory city inspection of houses before they can be sold.

The San Francisco Association of Realtors is complaining that the Residential Resale Inspection Program would result in costly delays for home sellers in Daly City.

But city leaders argue that the program would help tackle illegal construction of room additions and the safety concerns that go along with that problem.

On Monday, the City Council is expected to explore ways to prevent illegal building as they consider updating the Draft Housing Element, a document that includes an analysis, goals and policies related to urban residential growth.
