Article: Canadian, French triathletes win tough XTERRA USA race

SNOWBASIN -- Melanie McQuaid was on her way to winning the XTERRA USA Championship when she hit a wall.

"I had some dark moments today on the run," said the native of Canada, who managed to hang on to win her sixth consecutive XTERRA triathlon race Saturday with a time of 2:48:37. "This field is awesome. I spent five weeks getting ready for this competition."

The course at Snowbasin, which for professionals was a 1.5- kilometer swim, 30K bike race and 10K run, wasn't her favorite.
