LINFIELD won the Big Two battle of the fringe players last night
as their injury-hit side defeated a youthful Glentoran team to make
it through to the semi-finals of the Paddy Power Co Antrim Shield.
Michael Halliday scored his usual goal against the Blues but
David Jeffrey's side fought back through goals from Philip Lowry and
Mark Miskimmin in a thoroughly entertaining clash at the Oval,
though Glens boss Alan McDonald will point to a penalty decision
that went against the east Belfast men just before Miskimmin's
winner when BJ Burns handled in the box.
The Blues were awarded a spot kick of their own five minutes
before the end but Elliott Morris made a great save to deny Jim
Ervin.
