Sony has released new professional- level cameras. Richard
Cosgrove went hands on. -------------------- It was a photographic
gearhead's play box. Sitting before us in a corporate box at
Wellington's Caketin was a table of gleaming shiny new camera gear.
Sony was holding its New Zealand launch of its new Professional
series Alpha 850 and 550 Series D-SLRS cameras. Also included was a
few of Sony's new digital compact cameras.
Sony is currently sitting at No 3 in the camera sales league
table, behind Canon and Nikon, and has designs on the No 2 position.
The Alpha series D-SLRS are the flagship models that Sony hopes
professionals will start to buy. The company is sparing little
