Falk to head Williams

Adam Falk, dean of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University, has been named president of Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. Falk, 44, will take over at Williams on April 1, succeeding long-time president Morton Schapiro, who resigned June 30 to become president of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Falk, a physicist, attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an undergraduate, and earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University. Williams, founded in 1793, was ranked first among American liberal arts colleges last month by U.S. News & World Report.
