Article: Council backs away from mandated home inspections in Daly City

DALY CITY -- The City Council has dropped a proposal to require a property inspection before a home sale after about 300 residents rallied against it.

The opposition, led by the San Francisco Association of Realtors, targeted the Residential Resale Inspection Program, among the possible measures proposed by the city to combat illegal room additions.

"We need to look at ideas, but the ideas won't include a residential resale program," Mayor Sal Torres said Tuesday. "In my opinion, it's completely out."
