Roundup: Philippine shares close higher but trading lackluster

MANILA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine market closed higher on Tuesday, tracking mostly the overnight gain of the U.S. market.

The bellwether Philippine Stock Exchange index rose by 0.81 percent or 22.67 points to 2,807.32, while the all share index went up by 0.42 percent or 7.61 points to 1,788.32.

Trading remains lackluster where only 870 million shares valued at 2.04 billion pesos (42.91 million U.S. dollars) were exchanged. Investors continue to be net sellers at 320 million pesos (6.73 million U.S. dollars).

Only one of the six subsector indices moved lower. Mining and oil stocks went up by 3.24 percent or 246.54 ...
