Consumers have become increasingly selective about their food,
preferring antibiotic-free meats and fresh vegetables grown close to
home without a heavy dose of pesticides, even when it costs them a
little more.
With that trend has come a growing interest in "raw" milk, or
milk from the udder to the glass, so to speak, with no
pasteurization process in between.
Two of the state's 27 raw-milk farms are located in this area,
according to the state Department of Agricultural Resources:
Anderson Bros. Dairy in West Bridgewater and Oake Knoll Ayrshires
in Foxborough. And now Bridgewater farmer Dave Hanson is looking to
join the pair.
