Police officer shot

in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE - Police say a Milwaukee officer has been shot and wounded on the city's north side.

Chief Edward Flynn says the 44-year-old officer was part of a tactical unit executing a search warrant aimed at confiscating illegal guns.

Flynn says six people are in custody, including the person who was the target of the search warrant.

One round was fired from inside the apartment when officers attempted to execute the warrant Wednesday morning and the officer was hit in the arm. Tactical officers returned fire. No one in the apartment was injured.

The chief says the officer is expected to make a full recovery.
