Article: Homecoming times two for Hamrick: ; Past, present and future collide for Marshall athletic director

HUNTINGTON - When Marshall and East Carolina face off at noon Saturday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, it will be a battle for the early lead in the East Division of Conference USA.

For Thundering Herd athletic director Mike Hamrick, it represents so much more. Never in his nearly three decades of sports administration has his past collided so squarely with his present and future.

Hamrick, the Herbert Hoover graduate and former MU football player, took the Marshall position in July, succeeding Bob "Kayo" Marcum. In the process, he re-entered the ranks of athletic directors in Conference USA, the league into which he shepherded the ECU program more than a decade ago.
