Eric Esch, the 400-pound boxer-brawler better known to his fans
as "Butterbean," plans to enter the ring for the final time at the
U.S. Cellular Arena on Saturday night.
Esch, 43, faces Harry Funmaker of Fond du Lac in the main event
of a rare professional boxing card in Milwaukee.
"It's my last boxing match," Esch said. "I'm hanging it up after
this. It's time. I've been looking for the opportunity to hang up
boxing and this fight came along and I said, 'Sure, it sounds like a
good time to do it.' "
The 10-bout show is being billed as the "Brew City Brawl" and
also includes the professional boxing debut of Esch's son, Caleb, a
21-year-old cruiserweight. Boxing begins at 7:30 ...
