ANOTHER VOTE ON MEALS TAX - A plan to close the town's fiscal
year 2010 budget deficit will be up to the voters Wednesday at
Special Town Meeting. Town and School Department officials recently
managed to reduce the previous $1.4 million deficit to $470,000 with
additional budget cuts. Among the eight warrant articles is the
return of a local-option restaurant meals tax, which failed by eight
votes at the Aug. 31 Town Meeting. The Special Town Meeting is
scheduled for 7 p.m. at Collins Field House in Andover High School. -
