During the first Local Food Week, Kate Jonuska, creator of
localdish .net (and Gazette freelancer), held a recipe contest.
Jonuska recruited Brent Beavers, chef at the former Sencha, to
prepare the recipes for a Tasting Party. She invited Michele
Mukatis, of Cultivate Health and the brainchild behind Local Food
Week; Mike Callicrate, owner of Ranch Foods Direct; Chris Tulien,
chef at Trinity Brewing Co.; and yours truly to be judges.
The lamb burger by Juliana Frost of Colorado Springs took the top
