Entering the Christchurch Town Hall foyer, I wondered if I had mistakenly stumbled into a ratemymullet.com convention.

A bloke next to me chuckled into his cellphone: "This is bogan central."

Let's just say the crowd was pleasingly unpretentious.

I missed openers the Farrelly Brothers - a covers group comprising staff of The Rock - as they kicked off at 6.30pm, but heard the denim jacket went down well.

Luger Boa quickly followed in the spotlight with a stomping 20- minute set from debut album Mutate or Die.
