Article: ABOUT TOWN: Dinner at PVP estate raises funds for African children

Providing hope for African children through education was the goal of a recent dinner at the idyllic Palos Verdes Peninsula estate of Ann and David Buxton.

Through ticket sales and the purchase of auction items, guests underwrote tuition to safe schools for children living in the slums of Nairobi.

The event was chaired by Sharon Ryan and assisted by a 15-person committee that included co-chairwoman Laurie Sugita and auction chairwoman Dani Johnson, along with Anna Pinto. Pinto's parents own Micato Safaris and founded the AmericaShare Foundation, the event beneficiary. Others included Carolyn Batchelor, Pamela Lane, Pat Webb and Virginia Butler.
