Atotal of 31 people were killed and more than 500 were injured,
including many people from the West Country, in the Paddington Rail
disaster.
The tragedy had many links to our region as the Great Western
train which had left Cheltenham Spa for Paddington station collided
with the Thames train leaving London, bound for Bedwyn in Wiltshire.
The crash caused fireballs outside the two trains and within
coach H of the Cheltenham train and left a chilling wreckage of
twisted metal on the tracks.
For the survivors the memories of this horrific incident still
haunt them today.
