Ellen Elizabeth Snedden, daughter of the late Louis and Ellen
Lyle Snedden, died in Fairfax, Va., on Thursday, September 29, 2009.
Born June 30, 1915, in Botetourt Co., Va., Elizabeth attended school
in Salt Petre Cave, Buchanan, Clifton Forge and Norfolk, Va. She was
confirmed as an Episcopalian at Andrews Episcopal Church in Clifton
Forge. During World War II, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she
worked for the FBI for three years and subsequently for the American
Red Cross in Home Service. The remainder of her career was with the
General Services Administration until her retirement, during which
time she served several months at the White House as correspondence
