Article: Pascal Center delivers baby No. 1 Jessica Christina Vasquez born shortly after midnight yesterday

The first baby at Baltimore Washington Medical Center's new women's center was born yesterday, Jessica Cristina Vasquez.

Irma Vasquez of Brooklyn Park was admitted to the hospital at 8 a.m. Thursday, the day the Robin Elizabeth Pascal Women's Center opened its doors.

Dr. S. Patrick Donegan, chairman of the hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department, delivered the baby shortly after midnight.

Irma Vasquez was the only patient on the unit's electronic board yesterday.

"I'm happy, everything is great," said Vasquez in Spanish. "The room is beautiful."

Jessica Cristina was born by Cesarean section with all 10 fingers and toes and appears to be completely healthy. She weighed 6 pounds and ... <0x00BE>
