The Town of Summit could be a niche community that serves as a
bright spot of economic recovery after reports released Friday said
the unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in September, the highest
since June 1983.
With just two weeks left before the first phase of the new Aurora
Medical Center's Aurora Wilkinson Medical Clinic and Vince Lombardi
Cancer Clinic open, local unemployed might have something to give
them hope.
The medical center is anticipating 600 jobs and will employ 215
at the clinics. Its neighbor, Extendicare's new Lake Country Health
and Rehabilitation and Lake Country Landing - which are expected to
open by the end of this year - will employ 150 staff ...
