HAMDEN -- The wall cracks in Donald Eaton's living room are
getting wider while he and others in the Newhall neighborhood wait
for relief.
It won't be much longer, according to state Department of
Environmental Protection officials, who say they'll be turning the
neighborhood into a construction site in the spring.
By order of a 2003 consent agreement, the Olin Corp. is charged
with removing contaminated soil from 230 properties between Morse,
St. Mary, Goodrich, Newhall and WadsA-worth streets, as well as
Bryden Terrace and Prospect Lane.
Olin is being held responsible for cleaning the residential
