Preliminary probe shows carelessness might have caused train derailment in Thailand

BANGKOK, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Preliminary investigation showed that carelessness of the driver might have caused to a train derailment early Monday morning in the southern resort town Hua Hin that killed at least seven passengers and injured 88 others, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) said Tuesday.

Eight of the carriages of the Bangkok-bound train derailed in heavy rains at about 4:45 a.m. local time at Khao Tao Station, some 200 km south of Bangkok.

SRT governor Yuthana Thapcharoen said investigation showed train was running at 105 km per hour as the accident occurred, Thai News Agency reported.
