Every day this school year, students at Belle Grove Elementary
School, 4502 Belle Grove Road, have been eating their share of
fruits and vegetables in class, thanks to the Federal Fruit and
Vegetable Program.
The state Department of Education picked Belle Grove, along with
the Ferndale Early Education Center and Eastport Elementary, as
three schools in the county to receive money to include more fruits
and vegetables in their students' diets, said Jodi Risse, supervisor
of the county schools' system's Food and Nutrition Services.
FNS submitted those schools and three others, all of which have
half their students on free and reduced meals, as a way to expose
the children to more fruits and ...
