Article: Expatriot assembles aid for victims of tsunami in Samoa

POMONA - Sisilia Feesago left the island of Samoa more than 40 years ago, but her heart still bleeds for her former countrymen.

After a powerful tsunami on Sept. 29 devastated the southern coast of Samoa, Feesago decided to help out.

"We heard horrible stories," she said. "It was time we react and see what we can do."

Feesago spread the word among her friends, neighbors and family members that help was needed, and donations started pouring in.

Rows of cardboard boxes on Wednesday riddled Feesago's front yard as volunteers sorted clothing, shoes and medical supplies.

"A lot of aid is coming to Samoa, but those in charge are taking what is good for themselves," Feesago said.
