Lightning can delay, postpone or cancel high school football
games. Injuries can do the same to the Lightning.
Lake Country Lutheran quarterback Jared Wartinbee can relate to
the bumps in the road players frequently suffer during the course of
a prep career.
Last season, the versatile quarterback was off to a great start
for the Lightning, amassing 150 yards of combined passing and
rushing in each of the team's first two games - lopsided wins over
Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler and Johnson Creek.
The Lightning were off to a 2-0 start before their play-caller
suffered a broken collar bone. The rest of the season, Wartinbee
watched in street cloths.
