BIRD ALERT
Buchanan Lake was the place to be if you wanted to observe grebes
this week. That's where a western grebe, red-necked grebe and horned
grebe were spotted bouncing recklessly on the wind swept surface of
the lake in the company of a ruddy duck.
Wenas Lake also held four species of grebe including a red-
necked grebe and a horned grebe as well as the more common pied-
billed grebe and eared grebe. Other waterfowl of note included
American wigeon, Northern pintail, green-winged teal, ring-necked
duck, and common merganser. There was also a pectoral sandpiper and
Wilson's snipe working the muddy shoreline.
