-- PACIFIC Island workers brought into Nelson made up 11 per cent of
the pipfruit workforce at its peak this year, a new survey shows.
The grower organisation, Nelson Seasonal Employers, has just
completed the survey to get an accurate picture of the workforce
required to harvest the crops in Nelson.
It comes as the 22 employers who bring in Pacific Island workers
under the Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme (RSE) are applying for
their agreement to recruit (ATRs) for the coming season.
