Article: Social worker wins $150,000 settlement against state of Missouri

The state of Missouri agreed to pay $150,000 to a former employee to settle a racial discrimination and retaliation lawsuit filed in Jackson County Circuit Court.

Henry Service, of Gardner, Kan., was hired in October 2002 by the state Department of Health and Senior Services as a social worker in the Kansas City office. He applied for and was transferred to the position of facility surveyor II in January 2004.
